"Change has come to America!"

We won!!!

By "we" I mean the USA. Our entire teaching staff today was hooked to minute by minute updates of the race... and the moment Danielle said "CNN has called it for Obama!!!" I got goosebumps... This country is primed for the kind of change Obama's been proposing for years, and thank God we now have the right person in a position to push for that...

I stood in a blizzard for 3 hours to hear Barack Obama speak in El Dorado, Kansas. I cold-called voters during the primaries to get out caucus and voting information. I caucused during yet another blizzard to show my support for and belief in this man. And yet, I still didn't fully realize how AFFECTED I would be by the announcement that Barack Obama will be President. I think the right word is elated... maybe ecstatic... euphoric? Yes. All of these.

Of course, there was some celebrating after work...

Please raise your glasses with us to toast a new chapter in America's history... Here's to you, Barack Obama... And to you, Voting Public... You have been heard.

Celebrate? Oh there will be change my dear, I just don't know if it will be the change you desire or want. As my good friend back east said, "As of Last night the sleeper cells have awoken." With that quoted, I will add that I will be able to give our next President the opportunity to prove that he is a loyal American and worthy of leading the American people. Only time and his actions will tell. At least Kansas didn't let me down and I am seeing several people dressed in black today, including myself. Not intentional mind you but it may just be there are several mourners among us. :) I would also like to add that you spoke your piece in your blog and I am speaking mine here. My intent is not to have a continual debate with you because when it come to politics my dear, those of us who know and love you know that Emily does not debate politics she argues it...(that's supposed to be funny. I love you congratulations and when ever you come home you can find me in my fall out shelter that I'm getting ready to construct. :)

Lol! People in the office are depressed also. Not me though! I'm with you - ecstatic! So did you do a mail in ballot?

Three words, Emmylou... YES WE CAN!!!

Geez, mom, get your own blog! :) Kidding.

Lora - yes, I was able to mail in an absentee ballot to be sure my vote was counted... which, of course, didn't matter much as McCan't got all of Kansas's electoral votes... go figure.

Breea - YES WE CAN!! AND WE WILL!

It's the first time in a while that I can actually say that I am proud of the American people. People turned out to vote in record numbers. It was amazing. Last night was a great night.

YES WE F***ING CAN!! Shows that people didn't give into that socialism BS. Aunt Jalayne, at the point that we are, any change can only make us go up :P.

Actually, amazingly, McCain only got like 55% of Kansas votes. That's what is truly incredible because Republicans usually take Kansas by a landslide.

Lora - thank you for that update... It's heartening to know that people weren't just following the good ol' party this time, and were actually paying attention to what would really be best for them... especially in the Heartland.

Celebrate Change !! As we know, not all people look the same, believe in the same, act the same or vote the same. I am overjoyed by the change and happy to hear / see all of the supporters. I heard once that "If you continue to do what you've always done, then you will get what you've always got" I am happy to see that the majority of American people were tired of the same 'ol thing, and were looking for a change... We Love and Miss You!!

Hey Em,
For once I'm actually kind of happy I'm an Ohioan. My vote counted! I'm proud of Ohio and America. Me and the other students out here in Arizona cheered on the blue states at Old Chicago. It was very exciting and a great place to celebrate. Cheers! Oh, PS we are having a girl's night at Old Chicago in Wichita over Thanksgiving weekend....if you're in the area you should stop by ;) Love and miss you lots!!!
